Stone House Gardens Is The Event Venue Behind Your Big Moments

If you've been to 4 Ways Farmers Market on a weekend, you've probably stood on the Stone House Gardens lawn without knowing it. Set within the market grounds, Stone House Gardens is where music festivals and events come alive. Here's what to expect, how to find it, and why it's one of our favourite spaces.

Stone House Gardens is a heritage building with an open lawn space at Taroko Farm, next to 4 Ways Farmers Market. A wide expanse of lawn and landscaping, a flexible flow between the indoors and large outdoor patio leading onto the gardens. It's not a boxed-in venue, it's set on open ground that is ready to be set with your event details. Some weekends there's market stalls along the patio. Other times it's a full concert lawn with a stage, sound, and a scaled experience.

A double story heritage building with original features, a wide patio connecting the building to the lawns, an amphitheatre terraced by gardens and an outdoor stage on the adjacent lawn.

To find Stone House Gardens: From the main gate walk towards the river view ahead and turn immediately right at the pathway split. If visiting for a festival, follow the festival signage to a dedicated entrance on the main pathway outside of the market entrance. It's free to access on normal market weekends, but when there's a ticketed event it's closed off to market goers.

What makes Stone House Gardens the first choice for functions and events is the sprawling views of Modderfontein Nature Reserve, the open layout, and flexible structures. It's in Modderfontein, which is central to most of Johannesburg, making travel convenient.

It's the space that has the best of everything, which is why it's been home to international live music, South Africa's best music and art talent, and it's also where we have our monthly thrift pop-up market.

If you're coming to an event here, or picturing your own, Stone House Gardens might be exactly the space you have been looking for in Joburg.
